DACHSER receives eLearning Award for Blue Box
The DACHSER Blue Box, a new learning environment specifically for warehouse employees, has won the eLearning AWARD. For the jury of the Institute for In-company Training IFBB and the eLearning Journal, the easy access to the eLearning offer and the positive influence on the learning culture were particularly decisive for the evaluation.
The DACHSER Blue Box is a solution especially for employees in the transit terminal who do not have a fixed PC workstation. It gives them access to the logistics service provider's digital learning opportunities. Set up in the middle of the transshipment or contract logistics warehouse, the soundproofed Blue Box, which resembles a classic telephone booth, offers employees the opportunity to learn independently in an inviting, low-stimulus and semi-private learning environment. A privacy screen in the door and a Roman shade in the window protect against prying eyes. Participants can choose from up to 26 different languages for the training courses.
"At DACHSER, the focus is on people - and learning is an essential area of action in our HR strategy. That's why it's important for us to give all our colleagues access to digital learning," says Christina Müller, Head of DACHSER Academy, the in-house training institution. "With the DACHSER Blue Box, we have created a learning offer that provides easy and needs-based access to eLearning in the transit terminal and contract logistics warehouse. In this way, we support a modern learning culture of self-regulated learning, while at the same time showing appreciation for our employees and their work. This is an important differentiating factor in light of the shortage of skilled workers."
Following the launch in a pilot branch in October 2022 with an intensive training phase and feedback discussions with local employees, DACHSER now operates four Blue Boxes in Germany and one in Austria. This also includes the Eurohub in Überherrn, which is strategically important for the DACHSER network. The concept is to be rolled out in a further six European branches by the end of 2024. The DACHSER Blue Box package also includes corresponding digital tools that the branches can use to create their own locally tailored eLearning courses.
State-of-the-art project
The project was selected and honored by a jury of experts as the winner in the "Workplace Learning" category as a state-of-the-art project. The eLearning AWARD is presented every year to innovative and forward-looking eLearning projects from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This year, a total of 343 projects were submitted in around 80 categories.
